Suneate

Japanese: 臑当 (suneate)

Suneate, or shin guards, are a part of a suit of samurai armor.

The earliest suneate consisted simply of three pieces of metal or leather, which protected the shins. By the end of the 15th century, soft leather or fabric began to be used as a lining, to protect the legs from the metal, and also to extend the protection upwards, to cover the knees.
