Hisatora governed Ei district in [[Satsuma province]] and by [[1584]] was serving as a counselor to [[Shimazu Yoshihisa]]. A veteran of many engagements (including [[Battle of Takabaru|Takabaru]]-[[1576]], [[Battle of Mimigawa|Mimigawa]]-1578, and Minamata-[[1581]]), and wounded at the [[Battle of Okitanawate]] (1584), Hisatora was considered a great soldier.
