He left the [[Shinsengumi]] after the [[Battle of Koshu-Katsunuma]] and joined the [[Seikyotai]] but surrendered to [[Satsuma han]].
He became wealthy merchant in Hokkaido after the [[Meiji Restration]].
In [[1892]], while exploring Etorofu island, he fell off from a bridge then the rifle he had went off accidentally and he was killed.
