He later joined [[Oda Nobunaga|Nobunaga]] and served him in a largely diplomatic capacity. He was awarded land in [[Echizen province|Echizen]] in [[1575]] and became one of the 'Echizen Triumvirs' ([[sanninshu]]) along with [[Meada Toshiie]] and [[Sasa Narimasa]].
