Ba Kokushô was a [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryukyuan]] scholar-official who served as ''gakudôji'' (teenage entertainer) on the [[1832]] [[Ryukyuan embassy to Edo]], and who later rose through the ranks of the scholar-aristocracy to become a member of the [[Sanshikan]], the top administrators and royal advisors in the kingdom.

He was age 13 when he accompanied the 1832 embassy to Edo.
