Ichijô Mikako was the wife of the final [[Tokugawa shogun]], [[Tokugawa Yoshinobu]].
A daughter of [[Imadegawa Kinhisa]] and sister of [[Imadegawa Saneaya|Imadegawa (Kikutei) Saneaya]], she was adopted by [[Ichijo Tadaka|Ichijô Tadaka]], whose biological daughter would later marry the [[Meiji Emperor]] and become known as [[Empress Shoken|Empress Shôken]]. Mikako herself was betrothed in [[1853]] to [[Tokugawa Yoshinobu]], head of the [[Hitotsubashi family]], prior to circumstances turning to make him the successor to the position of [[Shogun]]. They married on [[1855]]/12/3.
