Toyohara Muneaki was an Imperial court musician, a specialist in ''[[gagaku]]'' and the ''[[sho|shô]]'' in particular. A member of the Toyohara family of ''shô'' players known today as the [[Bunno family]], he is known for authoring the [[Taigensho|Taigenshô]] in [[1511]]-[[1516]]. One of the most influential encyclopedias of musical topics produced in premodern Japan, the Taigenshô is over 1,860 pages long in modern print.
