Tubarama is a traditional folk song from Yonaguni Island. Relating to the native Yonaguni word tubarun, meaning "to meet," the song has come to take several forms. Historically, Yonaguni music involved few or no musical instruments, but in the 20th century, the Okinawan sanshin was introduced into Yonaguni, and Tubarama, along with many other Sakishima folk songs, has come to also be performed in an Okinawanized form, with sanshin accompaniment.
