Joshinsai Tennen was the ninth head of the [[Omotesenke]] school of [[tea culture]]. He is credited with founding the Edosenke school of tea, and promoting [[Sen no Rikyu|Sen]]-style tea in [[Edo]], where the [[Katagiri Sekishu|SekishĂ»]] school had previously been dominant.
