"stone pot") are a type of ancient cooking vessel made from talc stone, found in c. 8th-10th century sites as far east as the [[Kanto|Kantô]], and as far south & west as [[Hateruma Island]] in the southern [[Ryukyu Islands|Ryûkyû Islands]]. Made from stone mined in what is today [[Nagasaki prefecture]], these stone pots are one of a number of forms of archaeological evidence for ancient trade connections between "mainland" Japan and the Ryukyus.
