Fujii Ransai was a Confucian scholar and physician in the service of [[Kurume han]], and later, [[Satsuma han]].

Originally from [[Chikugo province]], he served Kurume domain for a time, and became a member of [[Yamazaki Ansai|Yamazaki Ansai's]] [[Kimon school]] of thought. However, he later distanced himself from that school.
