Yatsushiro castle is a castle in [[Yatsushiro]], [[Kumamoto prefecture]]. Throughout the [[Edo period]], it was the seat of the Matsui family, ''[[karo|karô]]'' to the [[Hosokawa clan]] of [[Kumamoto han]].
The first Matsui family lord of Yatsushiro was [[Matsui Okinaga|Matsui (Nagaoka) Okinaga]]. In [[1632]], in following with the shogunate's wishes, [[Hosokawa Tadaoki]], lord of Kumamoto, declared that following his death, Matsui would become castellan of Yatsushiro.
