His son [[Sugitani Sessho|Sugitani Sesshô]]<!--杉谷雪樵--> became a famous painter in his own right, and is known to have accompanied ''[[karo|hittô karô]]'' (Chief Elder) of Kumamoto domain [[Matsui Teruyuki]]<!--松井章之--> to Edo in [[1856]].
