A son of [[Emperor Ichijo|Emperor Ichijô]] and grandson of [[Fujiwara no Michinaga]], he succeeded his younger brother [[Emperor Go-Ichijo|Emperor Go-Ichijô]] in [[1036]].
[[Fujiwara no Yorimichi]] served as ''[[kanpaku]]'' (regent) throughout Go-Suzaku's reign.
Go-Suzaku was succeeded by his son in [[1045]], who took the throne as [[Emperor Go-Reizei]].
