John Diack was an English engineer who played a significant role in the construction of Japan's first [[railroads]].
Diack preceded [[Josiah Conder]] as an architecture teacher in Tokyo, and later worked under [[Edmund Morel]], surveying the route from [[Shinbashi Station|Shinbashi]] to [[Sakuragicho Station|Yokohama]]. His contract ended in [[1876]]; after his death in [[1900]], Diack was buried at the [[Yokohama Foreign Cemetery]].
