The Hachimonji-ya (lit. "Figure 8 Shop") was a [[Kyoto]]-based [[printing and Publishing|publisher]] known for a particular sub-genre of ''[[ukiyo-zoshi|ukiyo-zôshi]]'' publications. This sub-genre was so popular, and/or so distinctive, that it has come to be known as ''Hachimonji-ya-bon'' ("Hachimonji-ya books"), after the name of the publisher.
