Guido Verbeck was a Dutch-born American Protestant missionary who was sent to [[Nagasaki]] in [[1859]] by the Dutch Reformed Church. One of a number of prominent Americans active in [[Meiji period]] Japan, he is known for his writings and art collection.
His great-grandson Charles Verbeck (1932-2009) was also a very active and prominent collector of Japanese art, especially ''[[ukiyo-e]]'' woodblock prints.
