Hattori Tôkurô was a [[Confucian]] scholar in the service of the lords of [[Kai province|Kai]]. He was a student of [[Kinoshita Jun'an]], and author of a number of works including ''Dan'en'', ''Kansei Nikki'', and ''Sôkan Shôshûshû''.
