Chikaoki was a minor power in Settsu Province and controlled [[Itami castle]]. He submitted to [[Oda Nobunaga]] in [[1568]] and defeated a [[Miyoshi clan|Miyoshi]] army at Katsuragawa in [[1569]] on his behalf. In [[1574]] he was accused of having consorted with [[Ashikaga Yoshiaki]] and had his castle sieged by [[Araki Murashige]]. He surrendered and was deprived of his lands.
