The Hatano claimed descent from [[Fujiwara Hidesato]] (ca.[[94]]0) and were founded by a certain [[Hatano Tsunenori]]. Eight generations later, [[Hatano Tsunemoto]] settled in [[Tanba province]]. Here they remained until being destroyed by [[Oda Nobunaga]] in [[1579]]. Another, obscure, branch of the Hatano resided in [[Echizen province]].
