Kojima Shikanosuke was the leader of Onoji village in Tama district, [[Musashi province]].
He practiced [[Tennen Rishin Ryu]] from [[Kondo Shusuke]], [[Kondo Isami]] and Kondo Isami learned Chinese poetry from him.
He had a dojo in his residence and [[Hijikata Toshizo]], [[Okita Soji]] came to teach pupils in the region often.
After the [[Meiji Restoration]], he and [[Sato Hikogoro]] made an effort for honorary recovery of the [[Shinsengumi]].
[[1888]], A memorial monument of Kondo Isami and Hijikata Toshizo "Junsetsu Ryoyu Hi" was erected in the Takahata Kongo-ji temple.
