Numata clan
The Numata of Kôzuke province were descended from the Miura family. During the middle of the Sengoku Period they allied with Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo, and many of the latter's raids into the Kanto would be staged from Numata castle. In 1569 a succession issue created turmoil within the family, and years later they would be destroyed by Sanada Masayuki after the latter had Numata Kageyoshi murdered.
