Later Tang Dynasty

The Later Tang Dynasty was a short-lived dynasty during China's Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period.

Its rulers were of Shatuo Turkic descent. In 923 they overthrew the Liang Dynasty, which had overthrown the Tang Dynasty in 907, and declared their new dynasty the Later Tang.

The Later Tang lasted only about 15 years before being replaced by the Khitan dynasty known as the Later Jin Dynasty.
