First Battle of Kizugawaguchi

In 1576, Oda Nobunaga tasked Kûki Yoshitaka with blockading the Ishiyama-Honganji fortress by sea. In the resulting naval conflict, the Môri navy, commanded by Murakami Takeyoshi, overwhelmed and defeated Yoshitaka's outclassed fleet, keeping the supply lines to the Honganji open.
