Inoue Genzaburo was born in a family of Hachioji Sennin Doshin. He became pupil of Tennen Rishin Ryu in 1847 and received Menkyo in 1860. He supported Kondo Isami very well in Shinsengumi, they had great trust each other. He was killed in the Battle of Yodo-Senryomatsu 1868. His nephew Inoue Taisuke tried to take his head and sword but they were too heavy, he buried them in a temple on the way to Osaka. They are not found yet.
Inoue Genzaburo and Okita Soji were relatives.
