In the 6th month of 1570, Rokkaku Yoshikata moved his army into Southern Omi province, instigating various revolts, and then moved in the direction of the Yasu river. Shibata Katsuie and Sakuma Nobumori waited with ashigaru near the Yasu river for Yoshikata's army, and engaged him at the village of Ochikubo. Yoshikata's army was destroyed in one attack. Heads taken that day included Mikumo Sadamochi and Suibara Shigehisa. About 700 Jizamurai from Izu and Kai were also killed in the battle.
