The Japanese came to the aid of the suffering Paekche, who were being attacked by both Silla and T'ang China. Spanning from 660 to 663, with the final, devastating naval defeat occuring in 663, the Battle of Hakusukinoe (The Battle of Paekchon River/Hakusonko) marked the beginning of a long break of Japanese interaction in Korea.
