Xu Guangqi

Jump to navigationJump to searchXú Guāngqǐ was a late Ming Dynasty scholar known for his writings on agronomy, administration, and calendrics. He studied Western science under Matteo Ricci, and formally converted to Christianity.
His Nóngzhèng quánshū (農政全書, "Complete Writings on Agricultural Administration") was used by Edo period scholar Miyazaki Yasusada as the basis for Miyazaki's Nôgyô zensho (農業全書, "Complete Writings on Agriculture").
