For some reason, The History of Kanagawa refers to Saimei as "him", rather than "her":

The Emperor Saimei himself went to Kyushu and sent a huge army for the relief of the Paekche kingdom. (referring to the army that would lose at Hakusukunoe). I'm wondering if maybe since this was translated into English, the Japanese version doesn't clarify sex when telling this? --Kitsuno 00:10, 29 October 2006 (PDT)
