Ôno Uchû was a samurai from Karatsu han in Hizen province.
He joined the Shinsengumi in 1868 and became a subordinate under direct control of Hijikata Toshizo.
After the Meiji Restration, he served for the new government.
He left "Hakodate Senki" a journal of the Battle of Hakodate.
