Fujii Ransai was a Confucian scholar and physician in the service of Kurume han, and later, Satsuma han.
Originally from Chikugo province, he served Kurume domain for a time, and became a member of Yamazaki Ansai's Kimon school of thought. However, he later distanced himself from that school.
