Tomoyoshi was a retainer of [[Shimazu Yoshihisa]]. He served under [[Shimazu Yoshihiro]] at the [[Battle of Kizakihara]] against the [[Ito clan|Itô]] ([[1572]]) and distinguished himself in the hard fighting, in the process capturing an enemy commander, Itô Kaga no kami.
