Emperor Murakami reigned from [[946]] to [[967]], and is known for appointing no regent (''[[kanpaku]]''), thus weakening the power of the [[Fujiwara clan]] at court.
He was a grandson of [[Fujiwara no Mototsune]] and succeeded his older brother [[Emperor Suzaku]] in 946. Murakami was then succeeded in turn by one his sons, who took the throne as [[Emperor Reizei]] in 967.
