It's not clear when Nomura joined the Shinsengumi. When Kondo Isami was captured in Nagareyama, he and Soma Kazue accompanied as valets and imprisoned. They were released after Kondo was executed and they headed to Ezo with Bakufu's Rikuguntai. (They joined back to the Shinsengumi in Sendai) 1869/3/25, Nomura was killed during the naval Battle of Miyako bay.
