Japanese:公武合体
Kôbu Gattai means marital tie between the imperial family and the shogunate . It was a political theory in Bakumatsu.
In 1861, Shogun Iemochi married to Princess Kazunomiya who was sister of Emperor Komei.
But the Kôbu Gattai marriage didn't last very long because Iemochi and the Emperor died in 5 years later.
