The Oda of [[Hitachi province|Hitachi]] were descended from [[Hatsuta Tomoie]], a follower of [[Minamoto Yoritomo]]. During the Sengoku period they were active in the on-going struggle between the Hôjô and [[Satomi clan|Satomi]] familes. They lost their lands around [[1574]] to the [[Ota clan|Ota]]. They bore no relation to the [[Oda clan|Oda]] of [[Owari province|Owari]] and the characters that formed their names were different.
