- 1824/2 New silver coins are minted.
- 1824/5 New Bunsei gold coins are minted.
- 1824/5 British whaling ship lands at Hitachi Ôtsu, demands fresh water, food, and other supplies. Crew is captured by samurai of Mito han.
- 1824/8 British whaling ship lands on Takarashima, in the Ryukyu Islands, and seize two cattle, killing one. In the skirmish which ensues, a member of the crew is killed by a Shimazu clan retainer; his body is preserved in salt as evidence.
