It was 12th month, 5th day by the lunar calendar, which puts it in early January of 1867 by the Western calendar (a lot like the 1702/1703 dates for the 47 Ronin's attack). I'm not sure exactly what method we've been using here to deal with the different year dates-any input, Meth?--User:Tatsunoshi
