The Mori of Ômi Province were founded by the third son of Rokkaku Mitsutsuna - Takahisa, who was established in Namazue Castle in Ômi Province in the 14th Century. The Mori served the Rokkaku into the 16th Century, until the latter were defeated by Oda Nobunaga between 1568-1570. They afterwards attached themselves to Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
