Toshimune was the son of Kakeda Motomune. He served Date Tanemune, to whose daughter he was married. In 1542 Tanemune was betrayed by his
son Harumune and imprisoned at Nishiyama castle in the Koori
district. Toshimune assisted in Tanemune's liberation and
consequently was allied to him during the so-called Tenbun no ran.
When Tanemune was compelled to sue for terms, one of Harumune's
stipulations was that Kakeda castle be destroyed. Toshimune rebelled
and was destroyed, although one of his sons, Haruchika, survived to served the Soma clan.
Sons: Yoshimune, Haruchika
