Hisatake Chikanobu was the son of Hisatake Shôgen, and a vassal of Chôsokabe Motochika. In 1577, Chikanobu was made responsible for the subjugation of Uma and Kita districts of Southern Iyo province, fighting with the clans there. Two years later at the siege of Okamoto castle in Uma district he was struck by a bullet and killed. His younger brother Hisatake Chikanao succeeded him as head of the Hisatake.
