Toshimune was the son of [[Kakeda Motomune]]. He served [[Date Tanemune]], to whose daughter he was married. In [[1542]] Tanemune was betrayed by his
son Harumune and imprisoned at [[Nishiyama castle]] in the Koori
district. Toshimune assisted in Tanemune's liberation and
consequently was allied to him during the so-called [[Tenbun no ran]].
When Tanemune was compelled to sue for terms, one of Harumune's
stipulations was that [[Kakeda castle]] be destroyed. Toshimune rebelled
and was destroyed, although one of his sons, Haruchika, survived to served the [[Soma clan]].
