Abe Masasuke was the third [[Abe clan]] lord of [[Fukuyama han|Fukuyama domain]] (located in modern-day [[Hiroshima prefecture]]).  

Abe Masasuke was the third [[Abe clan]] lord of [[Fukuyama han|Fukuyama domain]] (located in modern-day [[Hiroshima prefecture]]).  

He was appointed [[Kyoto shoshidai]] in [[1760]]/12, and was named to the ''gan-no-ma'' of [[Edo castle#Omote|Edo castle]] the following month ([[1761]]/1). In [[1764]], he became one of the ''[[roju|rôjû]]''.

The second son of [[Abe Masayoshi]], he became lord of Fukuyama in [[1748]] following Masayoshi's retirement. Unlike his father and grandfather, he is known for his dedication to service to the [[Tokugawa shogunate]], rather than for his efforts in domain administration. Masasuke passed through positions as ''[[soshaban|sôshaban]]'' and ''[[jisha bugyo|jisha bugyô]]'' (Temples & Shrines Magistrate) before being appointed [[Kyoto shoshidai]] in [[1760]]/12, and named to the ''gan-no-ma'' of [[Edo castle#Omote|Edo castle]] the following month ([[1761]]/1). In [[1764]], he became one of the ''[[roju|rôjû]]''.
