Mount Potalaka is a mythical place imagined as the [[Pure Land]] of the [[bodhisattva]] Avalokiteshvara (known in Japanese as [[Kannon]]).

While Potalaka was long believed to be an island somewhere to the south of India, by the [[Ming dynasty]] East Asian [[Buddhism]] associated the mythical Potalaka with Putuoshan, an island just off the coast of [[Ningbo]].
