Ijichi Sueyasu was a [[Shimazu clan]] retainer who served the Shimazu as ''Kagoshima han kiroku bugyô'' (Magistrate of Domainal Records for [[Satsuma han]]). Along with his son [[Ijichi Suemichi]], he is credited with compiling the ''[[Sappan kyuki zatsuroku|Sappan kyûki zatsuroku]]'', an extensive and valuable collection of Satsuma domain records. Sueyasu was also the author of ''Nanbei kikô'', a three-volume treatment of Satsuma history from [[607]] to [[1832]].
