Akimoto was the son of [[Yasuda Kagemoto|Yasuda Etchû no Kami Kagemoto]] and served [[Uesugi Kenshin]]. He later supported [[Uesugi Kagekatsu]] in the [[Otate no Ran|Ôtate no Ran]] but afterwards committed suicide, possibly in protest of the small reward given him for his services. He was succeeded by a younger son named [[Yasuda Yasumoto|Yasumoto]].
