The ''Edmund'' was a British whaling ship which drifted or became shipwrecked in [[Ezo]] ([[Hokkaido]]) in [[1850]]. Thirty-two surviving crew members were escorted by officials of [[Matsumae han]] to [[Nagasaki]], where they were placed in the Buddhist temple of [[Seiko-ji|Seikô-ji]]. They were questioned by the [[Nagasaki bugyo|Nagasaki bugyô]] for a time, but were eventually released and returned home.
