Shô Chôkyô was the second son of King [[Sho Kei|Shô Kei]] of the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]]. At age 20, he served as Lead Envoy (''seishi'') on the [[1764]] [[Ryukyuan embassy to Edo]].
