One of roughly one hundred types of Ryukyuan sweets which developed out of the combination of [[Ryukyu Islands|Ryûkyû's]] native [[sugar]] production and Chinese cultural influence, ''chinsuko'' were a popular treat eaten within the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû royal court]], and are today a well-known sweet associated with Okinawa, and a popular tourist souvenir.
