The ''toiyaku'' was an official of the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]] charged with handling communications with Japanese and other foreign ships at [[Naha]] Harbor. The ''toiyaku'' also handled the distribution of goods provided to the kingdom's government by Japanese merchants and officials. The position was filled from among the scholar-aristocracy of Naha, and rotated on a yearly basis.
